Approach for landing...

...regarding my time at Lufthansa. After three month of internship I switched over to become a student trainee, with posibillity to write an external pre master thesis on product development at Lufthansa. Quite something were the insights to the Company's lynchpins such as the Airbus- and Boing-dockyards or the crew-terminals (where no pictures are allowed). The fists pic is showing me on the apron, ten meters next to a Jumbo. From October 12th I'll come back to university after having been 15 moth off.

...time flies!

Hey pals!

Time really flies! Rarely there was a better moment to claim this. Hence, no sooner said than done: A coupple of words about my internship. At the first of April - not a joke- I started working as an intern at Lufthansa, Germany's largest airline. Most important: Ther are no plains crashed so far, and I'm not having sex with coupples of stewardesses all day long!
But seriously: I'm salaried by the LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG- wich has no direct bonding to the airport, especially not the manouvring area. So I'm not spending days with watching plains landing. Recapitulating this first 6 weeks I can say that I learned that studying is a superb period in life and a waste of time in regard to the working life rolled into one.

My motive for not telling much about the internship up to now was that I signed round about ten papers in which I affirmed not to talk about the work, especially not it's juciness. So the only thing I can exhibit are some impressing facts of the Lufthansa combine.

A typical day at Lufthansa:

  • 1.760 Starts- 1.760 Landings
  • Carrying 138.000 guests plus handling 4.000 tons of cargo
  • answering 27.400 phone calls
  • adjusting prices over 1.000 times
  • feeding custoers with 992.000 meals
  • maintaining 1.700 aircrafts

To all Darmstadt-people: I already have some pleasant anticipation for our reunion this summer. To all Erasmus-Friends: Somehow I have to admit that I miss most of you!

Take care!
